I have lots of chickadees around the yard year round but they’re really hard for me to get a good picture of them. You might think the distinctive black and white head would stand out but it tends to look like a shadow and is more camouflage, at least in the summer. They’re also very busy little birds that flit around a lot. You might also see them in groups with their cousin, the tufted titmouse.
They have lots of little songs but they sing dee dee dee dee dee when they spot danger. The more “dees” the bigger the threat.
