Today I noticed several leaves on the basswood tree that were rolled up in a tube and appeared to be sewn shut. I googled “what bug sews a leaf around itself basswood.” The first hit was basswood leaf roller. The things I see in this yard that I’ve never heard of before! This impressive sounding name is given to a rather unimpressive looking caterpillar and moth, from what I can tell from Google. It’s kind of neat to see the several leaves rolled up. Google says this is not a significant pest.
