As I was sitting on the deck, this large fly alighted in front of me. It was a big fly and a little scary. I looked it up and it is a tiger bee fly. It is not harmful to humans. It lays its eggs in carpenter bee nest holes, and the larvae consume the carpenter bee larvae.
